Of Law & Equality and of course...the usual serving of rant.
Singapore has often been called a conservative society. However, I strongly believe that the Penal Code 377A (which explicitly bans gay sex) should be removed because:
a) It's between CONSENTUAL ADULTS. Why must the Singapore govt, or any govt for that matter pry into a person's bedrooms. It's one's own personal business. (As long as they have protected sex of course).
In a public forum some time back, this issue was actually raised.
"I fear being raped by some guy,"
Dude, firstly, read the damn word 'consentual'. RAPE is non-con sex. DIFFERENT MATTER ALTOGETHER. Also, if you do get approached, you can turn down the person's advances can you not? Please, let's all be adults in this matter.
b) Equality for all. We cannot enforce our beliefs onto others. For example, Muslims can't drink alcohol. Yet, you don't necessarily see alcohol being banned in predominantly Muslim countries like Malaysia, Indonesia etc. Same thing applies. Homosexuality may be seen as morally wrong in the three Abrahamic religions and a couple of others but some other religions do not, like pagan for example. If one can practise one's religion without fear, why can't one act on one's sexuality without fear?
Therefore, I signed the open letter to the PM. On one hand, I'm glad that I actually made my view heard but on the other hand, I fear possible repercussions on my actions, even though it's an irrational fear. Nevertheless, I pray hard that signing it does not in any way affect my future. (If not, then migration's the way to go baby!)
Anywhos, the letter should be signed by tonight, 2359. You can sign it here if you believe in an equal society.
In other news, I'm sick to the max. I've got a splitting headache and I have a hankering for pizza. Should I...or shouldn't I? Argh...

My school teacher signed for the gay law to be RETAINED.
I hate religious people enforcing their beliefs onto society. It's like two different matters, they aint being fair.
I am glad you're not as anal as them though :D
